Pepe Jeans India plans to open 50 more outlets across India on a franchisee basis, which includes Tier II and Tier III towns and cities in the next 12 months in a bid to increase and strengthen its market presence, for which the brand has earmarked Rs 500 million, revealed Mr Chetan Shah, Managing Director of PJL Clothing (I) Ltd, the company which manages the brand in India.

While speaking exclusively to Fibre2fashion, Mr Shah shared details on the days from when Pepe Jeans stepped into India. He said, “Pepe Jeans London, entered the Indian market in 1989 and today is the No.1 international premium denim brand in India.

In the early period, there were no sprawling malls, there were no exclusive brand retail outlets, retailers were not updated of the international way to sell a pair of jeans, the infrastructure was poor etc and there were a lot of problems that Pepe Jeans had to deal to make the brand a success in India”.

He continued, “Pepe Jeans took off as a jeans brand in India. The brand extended its product offerings and grew into a complete denim wear brand with denim jackets, shirts etc along with its line of jeans. Gradually Pepe introduced an array of kints, wovens, denim bottoms, fashion denims, non-denim and accessories under its umbrella and today, Pepe is the only international brand to offer complete casual wear solutions for men and women”.

“Pepe Jeans is an absolute casual wear brand and sells everything one would associate with casual wear like casual cotton shirts, denim shirts, light-weight jeans, t-shirts, shirts, jackets cotton casual pants and accessories, thus Pepe Jeans London has transcended from a jeans brand to a complete lifestyle brand today and currently commands a 25 percent market share in the premium jeans and casual-wear segment and are targeting a 20 percent growth in the next five years," Mr Shah said.

Tarun Tahiliani presents GLAMOUR BY LAKME at Grand Finale

The most spectacular show of the season was undoubtedly the Grand Finale at Lakme Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2010 when India’s top designer, Tarun Tahiliani presented his fabulous collection based on the GLAMOUR BY LAKME 2009 collection comprising RED CARPET GLAM,UPTOWN GLAM, RESORT OR GOA GLAM and GYPSY GLAM.

No longer identified as the Red Carpet look, glamour now has many nuances and it’s exploration by Lakmé Grand Finale designer, Tarun Tahiliani was a fabulous mix of fashion and beauty. The Ballroom of the Grand Hyatt Hotel, Mumbai was transformed into a wonderland, with three giant crystal chandeliers on the ramp which gently rose to the ceiling at the start of the show. The walls of the ballroom were swathed in hundreds of metres of luxurious fabric and resembled an opulent Mughal Darbar. Three giant gold frames on the stage swiveled around as the lights dimmed, to reveal the elegant models - and the dazzling show began.

It was a Flashback to Glamour as Tarun divided the show called “The Painterly Vision” into drapes that featured saris, gowns, togas, tunics, Grecian, jersey NavVaaris, fringed kurtas and of course the Pegged Drape. 53 models glided down the ramp in gorgeous outfits which were breathtakingly beautiful in their craftsmanship and the Indian rock music was the perfect accompaniment to the Indowestern garments.

The second part was colourful and tribal with the most amazing boleros teamed with modern shirts and finely tailored trousers all embellished with phulkari, ombre and the elegant Bhagalpur fabrics with block prints were turned into swaying kurtas.

The stunners where the sheer printed colour blocked tunic, the very innovative hooded draped silk jersey top teamed with cropped pants, the lapel neckline textured shift with a waist coat and the scrunch effect halter top with wrap skirt.

The detailing that made an impact was the use of zippers for not only to hold the dress together but also as embellishment, as it appeared all over the dresses and glittered under the lights. The finale was show stopping Celeb Maliaka Arora Khan glided down the ramp in a slinky orange draped goddess gown with gold detailing. Once again Mandira Wirk scored with an utterly hot selling collection on either side of the globe.

Versatile clothing applications with elastic fibres

Narration of Elastic and Its Use in Clothing

Elastic is a small narrow loop of rubber or similar material used for tightening, gripping, and holding of things with ease purposes. It has the quality of being stretched and then returning back to its original shape. Elastic has different names like rubber bands, gum bands, binder, and lacquer band.

The account of elastic has its roots back to thousands of years. The modern elastic band goes back to the mid 19th century. From the very start man knew there were certain objects that would spring back to their original shape when the pressure applied on them was removed.

At first, this thing infuriated man but with the discovery of fire and generate the wheel, man also thought of using elastics in his life. This property of elasticity was commonly showed by the animal parts, which man ate. Thus, the first elastic strings were born, which were made from animal gut to hold things together. With the passage of time, man realised that these strings of elastic could also be used as weapons. When a bullet was laden in to these elastic strings, they were thrust through the air at a great velocity. This resulted in the creation of bow and arrow.

Rubber is a very popular elastic material several of the goods made from rubber are bounced around, stretched, and pounded, and since they are elastic they return to their original shape. Because of this property, people use rubber in a lot various ways. It was named rubber because people found out it could rub the pencil stains. Rubber was used by the Early American Indians before Columbus even set his foot there. They called it Caoutchouc derived from the word cahuhchu meaning weeping wood.

This substance was obtained from the sap of the rubber tree. The unique rubber bands in older existence were completed from the latex sap of rubber trees. Nonetheless, today rubber bands are made from technology that is more modern and materials. The Mayans also added juice from vines to the rubber sap to create a durable and elastic material to bind things together. This was the first type of the rubber band. Later in 1845 modern rubber band was made. In 1923, first mass production of rubber bands was started by William Spencer.

Other elastic materials have also quite a few uses. Rubber has various uses in today's world. Rubber is used for tires, elastic bands and other bouncy and stretchable objects. Elastic materials are also used in sports. Insulated, elastic balls are essential to various sports as non-elastic balls would deform when used. Basketballs, volleyballs, and soccer balls have to be elastic to allow them to their normal shape.

Sales and Operations Planning for Textile & Apparel Industries

Process innovation and change are intricate always due to the complexity involved in altering the decisions, tasks, and skill sets of the people involved in the course of action. Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) is an integrated business process which enables the organization to formalize and integrate the planning process, achieve focus, and co-ordination among all managerial functions. Updated sales plan, production plan, inventory plan, backlog, financial plan, and new product development plan are a part of S&OP. It helps the management to understand the current position of the company, anticipate the future consequences, and plan necessary actions accordingly.

This is a core business practice which is applied to conserve a margin and simultaneously satisfy the market demand. In any business, a well established S&OP process is the mark of excellence. A sales and operations plan is generally prepared on the basis on the Annual Operations Plan (AOP) which is based on sales and supply. Accordingly, an S&OP plan is solely to accomplish the AOP targets of the business. Each and every company does some form of S&OP already.

S&OP to enhance Supply Chain Management:

Supply chain in an organization is under tremendous pressure due to its increasing complexity, and supply chain volatility which makes it to face challenges that exceed those of the past. These mounting pressures make the business face difficulties in achieving the desired outcomes. Therefore, increasing number of organizations today, are opting for S&OP to align their demand plans, and achieve desired performance results.

How to Dress Hot, But Not Sleazy

1) She’s Got Leggings: This trend continues to have….legs. I must admit that black leggings look good paired with long tunics and worn under billowy skirts. But I can’t quite get used to many of you ladies wearing leggings (and only leggings) with short tops. Even worse, some have mistaken opaque tights or regular pantyhose for leggings. Not a good look.

2) Put Ya Freakum Dress On: If you’ve got it, I say flaunt it. Although a tight dress should accentuate your assets, it’s best to leave something to the imagination. And remember that this type of dress is strictly for a house/beach party or the club; not an office party, wedding, or family gathering.

3) Maximize Your Mini: A mini-skirt or mini dress can be a great fashion statement. But a mini that’s too short, too revealing, or too tight isn’t hot; it’s hoochie. Sorry Mariah, who in the above photo is showing way too much cleavage and a little too much leg.

4) Classy Cleavage: Showing a little decolletage makes most women feel more feminine and flirty. And men of course love it. However, keep it classy and don’t let your cleavage runneth over.

5) High-heels, Not Stripper Pumps: High heels have never been my thing. But I envy Hollywood A-listers like Rihanna, who struts about in designer stilettos like they’re sneakers. Stripper pumps, however, are not high-fashion. And if you have a pair of clear heels, save them for “play” time at home.

Visual Merchandising: Magnet to attract customers

Today shopping malls all across the globe are making higher profits than common shops despite selling normal customer goods which have been used in day today human life, due to the attraction customers have for shopping in big malls.

Mouth Man Unleashes Totally Unique Kids Clothing

Mouth Man, LLC, is proud to announce the launch of its new kids clothing line. Once kids put on Mouth Man hoodies, the shirts instantly transform into animated animals. The whole idea is the brainchild of Ross Valory, founder of the rock band Journey.

"The idea originated many years ago while the band was on tour. I was visiting friends in Arizona, drinking coffee and hanging out when my friend's kids came tearing into the room doing something they referred to as the 'JAWS' -- arms crossed one over the other, elbows pointed front, opening and closing in a chopping fashion, punctuated of course, by monster noises. I thought it was really cute," said Valory.

Cut to 20 years later when Valory hugged himself in the same fashion his friend's kids did all those years ago and the memory popped into his head. "Wouldn't it be cool if there was a shirt with a graphic on the sleeves that would form a face with a mouth that would open and close when you put your arms together?" he thought.

That was the lightbulb moment for Ross Valory and "Mouth Man" LLC was conceived.

Valory quickly called his friend and fellow Journey founding member Prairie Prince, who also happens to be a world class graphic artist. Prince's remarkable custom airbrushed pieces worked perfectly for creating the concept for the new line of kids clothing. Now, hoodies are printed in house on Mouth Man's large format printers and transferred onto recycled fabrics through their heat press, otherwise known as dye sublimation.

Sportswear with Controlled technology keeps you cool

CooltechMarketplace.com launched three new Cooling Sportswear garments unique to the active wear industry--the Cooling Tee (T-Shirt for men and women), Cooling Sports Bra, and Cooling Cami (Camisole). Cooltech Marketing, Inc. believes its versatile sportswear containing lightweight, controlled temperature cool packs will appeal to diverse consumer groups--amateur and professional athletes who participate in everything from extreme sports to lunch-hour cardio workouts, sufferers of Multiple Sclerosis, women experiencing hot-flash symptoms of menopause, and those exposed or vulnerable to heat stress.

Cooltech's sportswear garments are made of a high-wicking, highly breathable stretch fabric. They can be worn as either under or outer wear. Each garment contains inside pockets--one running horizontally across the chest and one vertically down the spine--into which cool packs are inserted. The non-toxic, non-flammable formula contained in the polymer cool packs, weighing 15 ounces in the women's garments and 27.6 ounces in the Cooling Tee, is blended to set and hold a comfortable 58 Degrees F (14 Degrees C). Energizing the cool packs is quick and easy--30 minutes in the refrigerator or, to hasten the process, the packs can be immersed in ice water and ready in 15 minutes.

According to company founder and president Rebecca Lee, controlled temperature technology surpasses all other portable body cooling products that use ice, frozen gel or evaporative cooling. Because of its unique properties, the crystalline alkane blends not only cool longer than ice or gel of the same volume or weight but, more importantly, maintain a constant temperature from the beginning to the end of the cooling cycle. Evaporative cooling requires warm, dry circulating air to be effective. Garments are always damp against the skin, which breeds mildew, bacteria and odor. Not so with controlled temperature technology.
