Find inner peace with Jaya Misra’s Serene Collection

The word 'serene', which signifies peace and tranquility, is probably the sensation which is most sought after, yet, least attained. In the world of fashion, the word 'serene' is suggestive of utter calm and unruffled repose. Nothing delights the human heart as much as the sight of an Arcadian beauty, enmeshing her surroundings in a web of 'serenity'. It is a web in which every man would love to be trapped, just to seek a momentary escape into the 'cloudless and untroubled' world...

With this in mind, the fashion Designer of Jaya Misra is presenting the range of exquisite designs, which are the concoction of the modern creativity and the 'in vogue' designs. There is an artistic blend of georgette material with glaring colors which helps in adding up the glam factor, dutch satin, french lace, crochet, net, material has been designed in dark shades that exudes the exuberance inherent in humans.

The collection also have the ever elegant chiffon material in shades of the eye catching colors like blue which denotes empyrean, tomato red to crepuscular, yellow and the perpetual winning colors black which is the symbol of ultimate power and beij, thus making it suitable for a variety of different occasion. This shall be an inexplicable treat for the fashionistas as the theme is creative, innovation meets haute couture.

Fashion Trends Rocks and Rolls - Return of Denim Jackets

The Denim Jackets are here once again. It’s after a shatter from the leather jackets in trend preceding season that Denims come back in style. But this time 80’s fashion is going to come back live in a more stylized way. Earlier where Denim Jackets were worn out in a more formal look, with jeans and fitted skirts for women.

Today Denim jackets goes more casual. Put on your jacket with rolled up sleeves for more funky look, you can even unit it with a plain loose dress, shorts or wear it in shirt style. Torn effect is in vogue with a lot of washes on the jackets. Today even shrugs/ short coats / jeans are coming in denim, with a lot of light prints over them. They look so cute and nice.

We should also be grateful for the designers for playing a vital role in booming the Denim industry. Where Denims were worn in slight cold weather earlier, today people are wearing it at any point of time, summer or winter does not make much difference. The material being used today is so superior that it does not make us feel hot. The prints over it and the styles available induce us to wear it. After all whatever we say jackets always give a stylish look, if clubbed properly as the whole attire.

Here are two images that shows the best use of Denim Jackets.

KappAhl launches ‘Designers Finest’ men’s line

Designers' Finest is a new special collection comprising modern wardrobe classics with a high degree of fashion and extra fine qualities. Starting from their own needs and the thought "for women – by women", KappAhl's design team has produced their own versions of key garment that should be found in every woman's wardrobe in autumn 2011.

This autumn, Designers' Finest will be launched; a new women's collection where KappAhl's own fashion designers have been given free rein to come up their own personal favourites. The collection offers scrupulously tailored garments with a high degree of fashion and comprises some 20 garments and matching accessories.

The collection has been produced in a limited edition, focusing on exclusive materials in a somewhat higher price range than KappAhl's other ranges. The theme is a timeless style where wearing the clothes season after season is possible, influenced by the minimalism of our times with simple classics in stripped down forms.

"The collection aims to give KappAhl's present customers a wider choice, while at the same time we welcome a new fashion-interested woman into KappAhl. Important elements for the Designers' Finest customer are quality, design, and clothing that can be worn for several seasons yet remains modern over time," says Carina Johansson, Design Manager.

KappAhl's designers have created the garments starting from their own desires and with the thought "for women by women". The idea behind the collection is that all garments can be combined with each other, either worn separately or alternatively layer on layer, thereby keeping the colours and silhouettes in a coherent and uniform whole.

Obscene Jeans still the perfect fit for the Jersey Shore

A routine product placement agreement to provide the female cast members of MTV’s “Jersey Shore” with jeans has taken a turn for the Obscene.

On Wednesday, celebrity gossip website TMZ reported that “Jersey Shore” star Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi’s representative claimed Obscene Jeans had no right to use her name in promoting its product placement agreement with Celeb Branding, LLC. Snooki’s rep was quoted as saying, "The inclusion of Ms. Polizzi's name in the announcement was unauthorized. Ms. Polizzi has never been approached by the company."

Obscene Jeans Corp. signed a product placement agreement with Celeb Branding, LLC, to provide jeans for the “Jersey Shore” cast members’ televised and print magazine interviews and appearances. The TMZ report left little doubt that Celeb Branding couldn’t deliver on the terms of the deal.

What a great show you put on for your Spring 2012 Red Label collection, Dame Vivienne! It was supposed to be fun and that truly came across. Draping and tailoring with a twist, at its best! Your quirky draped tartan suits are always easily the best out there, with their kooky cut, unstructured lapels and beautiful fabric, that for me, sum up quintessential Britishness. Cropped trousers with a silly low-hanging crotch? I didn't think silly! Never mind what some critics have to say, and I bet you really couldn't care less anyway! You are the godmother of Punk! With your non conformist attitude you remain a constant source of inspiration, and for this, I salute you!

Textile scion's mantra for success - 'Know your business'

The first time you meet him, he comes across as a fun loving youngster, with an unshaved look and who may be living life in the fast lane. The warm smile and humble but firm handshake, immediately disarms you and within moments you feel, you have known him since a million years.

He is only 26 years, but displays a maturity much beyond his age. The leadership qualities are reminiscent of those seen in his illustrious father and forefathers. His lineage did not mean a direct entry into the boardroom, but he earned his stripes, by working his way up from the bottom to the boardroom.

After graduating with an electrical engineering degree from Stanford University, he preferred to first work outside the family-owned textile group in management consulting firm - Mckinsey, to learn management styles firsthand and now is pursuing an MBA from Harvard, which he expects to pass out next year.

He is none other than Kulin Lalbhai, second son of Mr Sanjay Lalbhai - CMD of the Rs 40 billion - Arvind Ltd. Kulin is from the fourth generation of a family, which traces its roots to Shri Kasturbhai Lalbhai, who laid the foundation of what is now Arvind Ltd.

The city of Ahmedabad owes it to the Lalbhai family for setting up many textile mills in the past and generating employment for thousands of people. Alongside, the family also donated land or set up many reputed educational institutions of higher learning in the city.

‘My vision of achievement is yet to unfold’ - Deepak Chiripal

‘There is no substitute for hard work’
‘Be offensive instead of being defensive’
‘How successful you are is one’s own perception’
‘There is cost of lost opportunities in delaying a decision’
‘Business is to earn a livelihood and not to turn it into a lifestyle’

Believe it or not, these quotes are from only a 33 year-old second generation textile scion.

The moment you enter the corporate house, you can feel the opulence, with luxury cars of various makes lined up and a big potrait of Lord Ganesha adorning the entrance of the office premises. But his own private office is spartan - just a desk, visitor’s chairs and a sofa. The desk is neat and clean - devoid of papers.

I am in the office of 33-year old Deepak Chiripal, the young and dynamic Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Nandan Exim Ltd – the denim arm of the Rs 1,500 crore Chiripal Group of Industries. Deepak is the son of Mr Jyotiprasad Chiripal, the second amongst the first generation of four Chiripal brothers.

Deepak was educated at Udgam School in Ahmedabad and has completed his MBA from Thunderbird University in the US.

His persona is non-assuming and dressing style simple. Not that of a person heading the operations of the third biggest denim producer in the country. However, the mind ticking away behind the bespectacled young US educated CEO’s head is razor sharp. He speaks eloquently and without pauses.

3.1 Phillip Lim Spring 2012 NYFW

Source: Fashionologie

I was quite eagerly awaiting this show. Phillip Lim creates these clothes with a modern appeal, that really have that cool urban city look nailed, and that I really want to wear. And he didn't let anyone's expectations down either. The inspiration behind his collection were flying kites, that translated beautifully into rectangular flowing dresses and strips left hanging from tops and jackets like tails. I loved the geometrical tops with sporty looking silky pants in light sorbet colours with a stripe running along each side - the slouchy but elegant cut pants with zipper vents left open over the shoes, resembling track pants - the culottes, (I am a huge fan of culottes in winter and summer, and Mr. Lim does these well!) that were cut wide like boxer and basketball pants with mesh along the inside of the legs (I am loving mesh, too) - and the deconstructed collars on jackets. Colours were held in black, white and sorbet hues. I want to wear it ALL! Thank you Mr. Lim!

You can see the rest of the collection at Fashionologie.

What was your favourite collection at NYFW so far?

‘Let’s work together and regain the lost glory of Indian textiles’ – Varun Jiwrajka

He is a diehard fan of football and its history. Yet to the mystery and amazement of his friends; he supports both - Manchester United and Liverpool. He doesn’t know how; but he is a supporter of both the clubs - arch rivals in English football league and has mixed feelings, whenever each one of them wins and is a great fan of Beckham, Rooney, Gerrad and Michael Owen.

Alongside, he is also fanatic about cricket and Formula-1 car racing and is a huge fan of cricket maestros - Sachin Tendulkar and Saurav Ganguly. Being a moto-sports aficionado, he loves to keep himself abreast with new technology and the latest in cars.

He comes across as a fun-loving youngster, but someone who has his head firmly over his broad shoulders and loves to live life to the fullest. In our more than an hour-long meeting, he frequently broke into a smile and laughed heartily.

He is none other than the 26-year old Varun, one of the scions of the Mr Dilip Jiwrajka family of Mumbai-based Alok Group which manages, perhaps the largest integrated textile company in India – Alok Industries Limited. The Group clocked revenues of around two billion dollars per annum last year from its various businesses, including the domestic and overseas retail business.

He studied at the Green Lawns School in Worli, Mumbai and completed his Bachelors of Science in Business Management from University of Southern California (USC), majoring in finance and entrepreneurship. He calls the beaches of Worli as his playground when young, as his school was located very close to a beach.

He has also done a certificate course in ‘Family Managed Businesses” (FMB) from SP Jain Institute of Management. He is married to Kanika, who has done her BMS from NM College, Mumbai and also the certificate course in FMB from SP Jain, which is, where they met for the first time.

Varun is not a voracious reader, but counts the ‘Bourne’ series by fiction writer Robert Ludlum amongst his favourites. He also loves watching movies. When traveling overseas, he prefers to relax on a beach, rather than sightsee. He has traveled to most of the European countries, Australia, South Africa and the United States.

Some of the contestants complained to the local news media about the size of the bikini are used in several photo shoots, with Miss Mexico Karin Ontiveros says they are "very small. "

That was enough to draw chuckles in Brazil, where women from all walks of life, not just Queens of beauty, sport costumes barely there on beaches across the country.
